 Frequently Asked Questions

How much sunscreen should I apply?

You should always apply two milligrams of sunscreen lotion per square centimeter of skin. A shot glass or two tablespoon of sunscreen is adequate to cover your skin. If you are using a sunscreen spray, make sure to apply until an even sheen appears on the skin.
Sunscreens work better when reapplied after every two hours. Always make sure to apply sunscreens which are SPF 15 or higher and use protective clothing during sunny days to prevent skin from direct sun's exposure. SunZone sunscreens are available in SPF 30 - SPF 50+ formats.

What does SPF mean and which one is right for me?

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and refers to the theoretical amount of time you can stay outdoors without getting a sunburn. For instance, a sunscreen with SPF 15 would allow you to stay in the sun 15 times longer than you could without protection. A product with an SPF of 15 will filter out approximately 93% of UVB rays and SPF 30 filters out about 97 percent. Sunscreen does protect you from sun damage, but a multitude of factors, such as sweat and water can remove the protective layer of sunscreen and expose your skin to sun's harmful rays.

What is the difference between UVA and UVB rays?

Sunlight that reaches us is made up of two rays; UVA and UVB, UVA is a long wavelength ray and UVB is a short wavelength ray. UVA rays can penetrate deeper into our skin layers and causes wrinkles premature aging and also suppression of immune system. It is present throughout the year during daylight hours. They can penetrate glass and clouds which mean the application of sunscreen during winters is as important as any other season.

UVB rays can burn the superficial layer of the skin. Unlike UVA rays, the intensity of UVB rays varies by season, location and time of day (10AM-4PM are considered peak hours). UVB rays play a crucial role in burning, tanning and in the development of skin cancer. Unlike UVA rays, UVB rays do not penetrate glass.

What does broad-spectrum mean?

SunZone provides sunscreens that are broad- spectrum, which means they protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.

Is SunZone PABA/Paraben Free?

Most sunscreens use PABA as sun blocking ingredient, however, it has been reported to cause allergic dermatitis rash, discoloration in clothing, and in the worst cases deepened pigment in the skin – causing an even greater risk for skin cancer. Parabens are used as preservatives which can cause reef and coral damage. SunZone sunscreens are both PABA and Parabens free, making it more effective and suitable for all skin types.

How do I find out what ingredients are found in your products?

Every product that contains any chemicals must disclose the ingredients on the packaging. All SunZone sunscreens contain natural ingredients including Green Tea extract, moisturizing Aloe and Vitamin E for healthier skin.

How can I apply SunZone sunscreen spray?

Sunscreen sprays should always be sprayed on hands and then rubbed all over the face. SunZone clear continuous sprays provide an instant protective layer on the skin thus preventing it from sun damage.

What are the benefits of using SunZone Continuous Spray sunscreens?

Non-comedogenic skincare products are considered ideal as they do not clog your pores and won't irritate your skin. People with acne or blemish prone skin should always choose non-comedogenic sunscreen as it will not irritate the skin or block the pores.
